Inspirational mission, Inspiring leadership

Principal

South Norwood, London

Salary + Benefits

Founded in 1856, Spurgeon’s College has a remarkable history and remains a leading evangelical Baptist college providing biblically-rooted training for mission and ministry. Today around 800 full-time, part-time and online students from a broad diversity of backgrounds, churches and denominations are studying for a range of academic and vocational qualifications from access level to doctorates.

Higher education is changing, and so is the church and the context in which we operate.  We need to build on our heritage by continuing to develop provision and support that inspires, enables and equips people of all ages to fulfil their Christian ministry, today and into the future.

The role of Principal has many parts including vision setting, shaping strategy and delivering sustainability; engaging with a range of external stakeholder bodies; providing organisational leadership; and supporting academic excellence.  At this stage in the life of the College we have opportunity to appoint a Principal who will provide overall leadership and vision to the mission, inspire our gifted team, and engage widely across the UK church.

So we are looking for an experienced, engaging and visionary Baptist leader with a clear sense of calling to this work and a proven ability to build, shape and lead a talented team. It’s this proven leadership experience that is central to the role. Experience of working in higher education is not essential.

Ideally we are seeking someone to start in September 2017.

The role offers a competitive salary and benefits including accommodation on site, pension and 30 days holiday.
