Director of Ministerial Formation and Training
South Norwood, London
Salary + Benefits
Founded in 1856, Spurgeon’s College has a remarkable history and remains a leading evangelical Baptist college providing biblically-rooted training for mission and ministry. Today around 800 full-time, part-time and online students from a broad diversity of backgrounds, churches and denominations are studying for a range of academic and vocational qualifications from access level to doctorates.
A pivotal part of the work of the College is ministerial formation. Dr Peter Morden, who currently oversees this area, is returning to pastoral ministry this autumn, creating this opportunity. This inspiring role is in part inward looking, as a tutor (in either church history and spirituality or, possibly, doctrine) and active contributor to College life. But it is also outward facing, engaging with Baptist and other church communities.
We are seeking an experienced Baptist minister with a passion for ministerial formation and training and the ability to relate to, work with, and support students from a range of backgrounds. The successful applicant for this senior role will have some experience as a tutor with supporting academic qualifications, along with the ability to handle a fascinating but diverse workload.
There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the Director of Ministerial Formation and Training is a Christian. Regulation 7(2)a of the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003 applies.
Ideally, we are seeking someone to start on 1 September 2017.
The role offers a competitive salary and benefits, including the possibility of local accommodation, pension and 30 days’ holiday.
