Spurgeon’s College, one of the UK’s leading Christian Colleges, was pleased to sponsor this weekend’s Preventing Knife Crime (PKC) Academy’s summer football tournament at the Selhurst sports arena. The event brought together over 70 young players from the local community to enjoy a competitive and fun afternoon of football.
PKC is a football organisation based in Croydon, set up to make football accessible to all young people. The Academy works to teach young people the transferable skills that they need to be successful in life through football, as well as giving them opportunities and keeping them healthy and active.
Sponsoring the event forms part of Spurgeon’s College’s commitment to supporting the local community through helping to develop youth talent and promote social mobility within Croydon. This ambition forms part of the College’s wider plans to become the first home-grown university in Croydon, enabling it to offer higher education and developmental opportunities to more people within the Borough.
