Dean of Ministerial Formation and Development
Tutor in Ministerial and Practical Theology
Seidel is a Baptist Minister and the Dean of Ministerial Formation and Development at Spurgeon’s College. He is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the ministerial formation for Ministers in Training (MiTs), Newly Accredited Ministers (NAMs), and Lay Training (Equipped to Minister) for the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the wider church. Ministerial formation delivered across two sites (London and Birmingham) and lay training across three sites (London, Birmingham and Cambridge) in partnership with four Baptist Associations (LB, EBA, SEBA and HEBA). In addition, Seidel is also the Tutor in Ministerial and Practical Theology, where he teaches subjects such as professional ministerial practice, mission, evangelism, apologetics, preaching and world religions.
Seidel also has a few external roles. He is the Moderator of Council, Baptist Union of Great Britain; External Examiner (Durham University Common Awards) for St Augustine’s College of Theology, Trinity College, Bristol with Bristol Baptist College; Trustee of Global Action UK; guest lecturer at a few UK and European theological colleges; and guest preacher and speaker at several churches, organisations, and conferences.
Seidel has a first-class honours degree (BA Hons) in Applied Theology (University of Gloucestershire); a Master of Theology (MTh) degree with distinction in preaching (University of Wales); and he is currently finishing a professional doctorate in practical theology (University of Chester). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE) and has a professional Higher Education Teaching Certificate from the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning, Harvard University (HarvardX). Recently, he has been selected as a Baptist Scholar for the Baptist Scholars International Roundtable (BSIR) organised by Baylor University, Texas.
Seidel grew up in Hyderabad, India, and after his initial studies in Commerce (BCom), he worked with GE Consumer Finance as an Assistant Manager. After his theological education and ministerial training in the UK, he was accredited and ordained by the Baptist Union of Great Britain. In the past, he worked as the Director of Outreach and Lecturer at Capernwray Bible School; Development Officer at Moorlands College; Minister at Rosebery Park Baptist Church and Assistant Youth Worker at St. Andrews Church, Charminster, Bournemouth. During his time at Moorlands, he regularly spoke on a radio show (90.1 Hope FM), discussing theological and contemporary apologetical issues regarding the Christian faith. He is married to Linda, and they have a daughter.
