This is a programme designed for those working with young people in a church setting or wanting to explore youth ministry in and beyond the church. The aim is enable those with few formal educational qualifications to achieve a gold-standard qualification in youth ministry.
It is a three year diploma programme, studying one day a week at college and doing a placement in a youth ministry setting.
The course includes spirituality and Christian belief, study skills, introductions to youth culture, leadership, team work and mission. It will be taught by a range of experts in the field, both college staff and practitioners from churches and youth ministry organisations.
Normally three GCSEs’s Grades 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent.
As well as campus study, a placement is essential as this is where practical skills in youth work can be honed and strengthened.
There will be no exams. Assessments will be done by course work, including group work and reports from placement.
