RESEARCH - MPhil, PhD & DMin

Research Degrees

We welcome enquiries regarding higher degrees, including the professional development degree of Doctor of Ministry and the more traditional degrees of MPhil and PhD. We are able to supervise research degrees across the range of theological disciplines, subject to the availability of qualified staff at the time.

We are currently seeking a new validating partner for our higher degrees and more information will be available here in due course. Precise entry requirements will depend on the validating partner but the following gives general guidance.

Entry Requirements: DMin

Candidates for a professional doctorate would normally be expected to have held a position of responsibility relevant to the course for a minimum of two years and to continue in ministry during the course. You would be expected to have at least a second class honours degree in theology or religious studies and to have undertaken initial training for your ministry.

Entry Requirements: MPhil / PhD

Candidates for an MPhil or PhD programme should normally have, or expect to obtain, at least an upper second class honours degree in theology or religious studies. Because of the demand for places, the College will normally give preference to those who already have a Master’s degree. For those with no experience of research, the College may require an element of research training as a condition of entry.

International students must provide evidence of English proficiency at the time of application.
