Personal and Corporate Aspects of Preaching

MTh pathway in Biblical and Theological Studies
COURSE UNIT 746

UNIT DESCRIPTION

The unit begins with an overview of theological reasons for the importance of considering the personal and corporate dimensions of preaching. It explores the relevance of tools such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as aids to understanding the personal dimension of preaching and listening, and it examines the significance of gender in preaching and listening to sermons. There is a critical survey of different forms of co-operation between preacher and listeners and an opportunity to explore creative possibilities for developing one’s relationship with the congregation as a preacher.
