COURSE UNIT 414

UNIT DESCRIPTION

This unit adopts an inductive approach to learning biblical Hebrew while providing more detailed instruction in elements of grammar encountered along the way. It requires students to attend lectures for eight weeks on one or two days per week. Those who attend one day a week will need to be committed to extra self-directed study. After these eight weeks students meet once a week for a translation class to work through set texts. From these set texts they select two chapters on which to complete their exegetical studies.

Aims

To introduce aspects of biblical Hebrew grammar and enable students to use this knowledge for reading and translating a selection of biblical Hebrew texts
