College Conference
College Conference is both the name given to the association of former students of the College and an actual day conference which is held each year on the second Thursday in June. Forthcoming events include:

The Dr G. R. Beasley-Murray Memorial Lecture will take place as part of the Baptist Assembly on Friday 4 May 2012. Dr Nigel G. Wright, College Principal, will speak on the title 'Sustaining Evangelical Identity: Faithfulness and Freedom in Denominational Life'. This will be tenth and final Lecture in this series.

College Reunion in 2012 will be part of the Baptist Assembly in London and will take place over lunchtime on Sunday 6 May.

College Conference will take place on Thursday 14 June 2012. The incoming President will be Dr Steve Holmes and his theme will be 'Progressive Evangelicalism'. Steve is Senior Lecturer in Christian Doctrine at St Andrew's University and says of this theme:

The first word associated with ‘Evangelicalism’ today is often ‘conservative’, but the tradition began in radical overthrow of ecclesiastical norms for the sake of the gospel and prospered through progressive political and social engagement in the name of Christ. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, what would a recovery of this radical and progressive evangelicalism look like? Faithful to the gospel, rooted in Scripture, yet challenging assumed and inherited norms because no human society is ever adequate to the call of Christ. We won’t get all the answers in one day, but we can think together, enlarge our vision, and encourage each other on a journey of discovering the radical claims of the gospel on our lives and attitudes, our churches and communities.

Also speaking will be Ruth Volario of A Rocha. Ruth has a theology degree from Cambridge and an MA from the London School of Theology, and is currently doing doctoral studies at Kings College London. She has written extensively on justice, environment and lifestyle issues, as well as writing Bible study guides for Scripture Union and CWR.

Steve and Ruth will be joined by Dr Krish Kandiah. Previously Director of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics and Tutor in Evangelism at Wycliffe Hall, Krish now works as Executive Director of Churches in Mission for the Evangelical Alliance.

College Conference is open to all members and their 'significant others'.  Guests are welcome.
