The title ‘ten’ comes from the College motto, “et teneo et teneor” which means “I both hold and am held”. The phrase was adopted by Charles Spurgeon when he founded the College in 1856 and it remained a guiding principle throughout his life.
Joining ten brings you to the heart of Spurgeon’s College. As a highly valued personal member we want to keep you informed of developments at the College so that you can keep us in your prayers. To thank you for your regular support, we offer you benefits you can enjoy as a Personal Member of Spurgeon’s College.
We ask you to make a minimum annual donation of £120.00 to the College – that’s just ten pounds a month. We are very grateful to many of our Personal Members who commit to giving more than this to support our vital work in preparing Christians for mission and ministry. Please be assured that your Personal Membership will make a significant contribution to the life and work of Spurgeon’s College.

We look forward to welcoming you to the ten scheme and meeting you at our special events for Personal Members.
You will receive the College magazine, The Record.
Personal letters will be sent to you from our Principal, Dr Nigel Wright giving you the vision for the College and his personal reflections of the life and community at Spurgeon’s.
You will be invited to be our special guest at the Graduation and Commissioning in June.
In partnership with Spurgeon’s Bookroom, we offer you 20% discount on all books, excluding postage and packing.
We send a regular prayer diary by e-mail highlighting the needs of the College, our students and other items for prayer and praise.
On joining the TEN scheme, you will receive a beautifully handcrafted wooden cross. This is designed to fit in the palm of your hand and remind you of the College motto, “Et teneo et teneor”. The cross comes with a booklet of prayers and psalms compiled by Chris and Margaret Voke.
Most importantly, your regular giving will make an important contribution to the College. Although £10 per month may not seem a lot, it only takes 220 people to fund the salary of a tutor. Your giving through the TEN scheme relieves the financial burden on those training for Christian service and helps to prepare Godly leaders for the next decades.
