Dr Nigel Goring Wright has been Principal of Spurgeon's College since 2000. He was born and bred in Manchester and was ordained as a minister of the Baptist Union of Great Britain in 1973. He pastored chruches in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire and Altrincham, Cheshire. He is a graduate of Leeds University in modern languages and in theology from London. Dr Wright holds research degrees from the University of Glasgow and King's College, London. He is the author of around twenty books including Disavowing Constantine (2000), A Theology of the Dark Side (2003), Free Church Free State (2005) and God on the Inside (2006). His latest book is Jesus Christ - the Alpha and the Omega (2010)
Dr Wright is a former President of the Baptist Union and is widely engaged nationally and internationally as a preacher, speaker and lecturer. He is listed in Who's Who and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In 2009 on his sixtieth birthday he was presented by colleagues with a Festschrift entitled Challenging to Change: Dialogues with a radical baptist theologian.
He is married to Judy and they have two children and one grand-daughter. Nigel particularly enjoys walking, travel, reading and exploring the many dimensions of the capital city.
