Chris Voke is a Baptist minister who brings the experience of twenty years of ministry among students and in two Baptist churches to Spurgeon’s. He served as Deputy Principal of the College and taught in the area of Practical Theology until his retirement in 2011. His doctoral research was on the subject of corporate worship and the doctrine of creation and he continues to think and write about contemporary Christian worship as well as framing contemporary liturgy for corporate and personal use. He has served in Sweden as a visiting lecturer in Malmo (SALT) and at the Örebromissionskola.
Chris taught music and religious education before working as a travelling secretary for the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship. He trained at Spurgeon's for the Baptist Ministry as an early kind of church-based student and then served churches in Sussex and in Kent. He continues to live in the local area and is now a Research Fellow of the College.
He is married to Margaret and they have three grown up children and three grandchildren. His primary leisure interest is music; writing, playing and listening and he serves as self-appointed guardian of the College woods.
